Mountain View Ranch covers over 100 acres of beautiful woodland & trails and is the No. 1 place for a family adventure of all ages in the open fresh air! With map in hand, you will begin the Ranch Trail, making an enchanting discovery at every turn. Popular discoveries include our awesome jumping pillows, hidden tree houses, soft archery, Funny Goats, enchanting Fairy Forest and thrilling tree swings!
The Gruffalo Trail - Did you know we are home to Wales’ first official Gruffalo Trail? Based on the hugely popular storybook by Julia Donaldson, you can take a stroll through the Deep, Dark Wood and look out for your favourite characters from the story - whether its Mouse, Fox, Owl, Snake or of course, The Gruffalo!
Please note, this is a permanent feature and is included in the standard ticket price.
The Ranch Coffee Shop - Refuel your energy at The Ranch coffee shop. We serve fresh, local coffee, a range of soft drinks, cakes & sweet treats, light snacks & ice-cream. Please note that we do not provide any food/lunch options due to the quiet time of the year but welcome all visitors to bring their own picnic to enjoy!
USEFUL INFORMATION
Is the ranch pushchair accessible?
The Ranch has pathways around the whole trail which is pushchair accessible for most parts. Just be aware that some areas are steep and hilly, therefore more challenging!
Are dogs welcome?
Of course! We just politely ask that they are kept on a short lead at all times during your visit and clean up after them. Dog waste bags are available free of charge at the entrance if needed!
Do you serve food?
In school holidays and half terms, food vendors visit to provide tasty lunch options! However, currently at this quieter time of year, we only serve a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes, ice creams and light snacks from our on site coffee shop in order to minimise our food waste! We strongly encourage guests to bring a picnic and make the most of our many scenic picnic spots!
Should I book in advance?
We certainly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot, but we also welcome walk-ins! If you’re planning to visit last minute, please do check on our bookings page and Facebook in case we are fully booked.
Where can we find you?
On Caerphilly Mountain! Located on Rhiwbina Hill, we’re only a 10-20 minute drive from Cardiff City Centre, 10 minutes from Caerphilly and only a 1 hour drive from Bristol City Centre! For Sat Nav, use CF83 1NG or use this map.

As well as all the permanent attractions at the ranch, we organise seasonal events and activities on various dates throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok for any upcoming events!
Anything important to know before we visit?
Just a polite reminder that bikes, BBQs, smoking/vaping on site is strictly prohibited - thank you very much for your understanding!
